Admissions

The school admits new students in all year groups at the start of the school year.

All girls are welcome to apply. Applicants will be admitted according to the following order of priority:

 

New students who are:

1. Practising Sunni Muslims

2. Sisters of current pupils

3. Recent former students of Islamic primary/secondary schools

4. Knowledgeable in or have an understanding of the Urdu language

5. Residing in close proximity to The Fountain

6. Supportive of the ethos of the school if non-Muslim, together with their parents.

Note: The term ‘sister’ refers to children who reside with the same family at the same address. Children living with the same family, e.g. foster children and stepsisters, are also included, but cousins are not.

The school recognises that the vast majority of students are bilingual or have varying levels of English proficiency. The school therefore provides classroom assistants and extra lessons as and when required. Students who arrive from abroad and have varying levels of English proficiency will be assessed before admission.

The school will also provide, after assessment, one-to-one assistance for English as an additional language to students who require it.

If a girl with a physical disability wishes to apply, we have a school lift with ready access between all four floors. The school has wheelchair access to all learning areas and an appropriate accessible toilet facility. The school does not have LEA SENCO provision; however, parents with children who have SEN can apply at their own discretion. We will endeavour to do our best to support such children.

 

The school aims to provide an inclusive education to all its students, allowing them access to the full available curriculum without discrimination.

 

Application Procedure

The school has a one-class intake for Year 7.  The school admits students from Year 7 upwards.  Admission forms are available at the school office from the school administration staff or can be downloaded here.  The completed form must be returned to the school with a Madrasah and school report or can be emailed to admin@fountainschool.co.uk. Application forms will be subsequently processed and all prospective students will be asked to attend an interview at the school in February or March.  Parents will be notified in writing if their daughter has been offered a school place for the next academic year by the first week of May at the latest.  All parents of new students will be contacted thereafter with the relevant information to help them prepare and start the new academic year. Appeals for a School Place

If your daughter has not been offered a place at the school, you can submit your appeal in writing, within 28 days of refusal, addressed to the Proprietor Maulana M. Irshad Afsar. His decision will be final.
